18th Birthday Party Ruined Because of Bad Hair Dye Job

If you have suffered from any kind of hair dye damage, be it a disastrous result or a health problem, you know how hard it is to recover form something so horrible and potentially embarrassing. It’s not an extremely common case, but things like this do happen around the country. Luckily there are now options to aid you in your bid to be compensated for the damage caused.

Let’s take a look at the case of 18 year old Paige Kearns.

Paige had booked in to Decisions salon in Basford for a shampoo and dip dye prior to her 18th Birthday party that evening. A level one trainee had been assigned to carry out Miss Kearns treatment which lead to disastrous results.Hair Lawyers

Paige was left with a terrible looking, uneven job which had nothing in common in what she had pictured in her mind. The treatment lasted an extreme 6 hours and meant that Paige was more than 2 and a half hours late to her own birthday party. We’ve heard of being fashionably late, but that was in no way what the teen was going for, in fact she was saddened by this as visiting family from Wales were leaving as she turned up.

One of the most surprising facts about the story is that the treatment was pre-paid for and should have cost £85, although the stylist took a £5 tip for herself. There were concerns as to how this was carried out and Paige herself was disappointed because the shampoo which was an agreed part of the treatment was not even carried out.

After a ruined 18th Birthday party which cost over £600, Miss Kearns decided that enough was enough and she questioned the salon. Manager Candice Lindsay who was not present at the time of the treatment refused a full refund and only offered back £40, which Paige and her family and friends did not think was acceptable. She is now thinking about taking the salon to court.

A court case like this can result in the salon having to pay out to the victim as well as having their reputation ruined. People may think that it is a bit extreme to take something like this that far, but as far as Paige is concerned she is doing what she feels is right.

“I couldn’t believe what they had done – people were laughing at me in the street. I was left looking like an Afghan hound dog, it was so humiliating. Your 18th birthday is supposed to be special but it turned into a nightmare for me.”

Upon speaking to Sarah-Jane Mascia, the stylist that carried out the treatment, she commented;

“I’m studying for my level two qualification and this was level three work. It’s almost like running before you can walk. I was upset because I did my best and I know it wasn’t good enough but someone else should have taken over.”

So, what are Paige’s options?
