Spring is in the air and we will soon be spending much more of our spare time outside. What better way than relaxing in the luxury of a hot tub? With our busiest time of year fast approaching here at UK Hot Tubs, Portsmouth we have put together some of our customers frequently asked questions that may help you decide whether to take the plunge and invest in one of our hot tubs.
Can I only use a hot tub in the summer?
Absolutely not! Of course it is a matter of preference but your hot tub can be used all year round provided that it is prepared for the seasons. Within the hot tub industry it is suggested that the experience of sitting and relaxing in 40 degrees while the snow or rain falls, can not be beaten. This is reflected in the popularity of hot tubs in Northern Europe and Scandinavia. That said, sitting in the swirling bubbles under the sunshine with birds singing is tough to beat too!
Do I need to empty my hot tub after each use?
Just like a swimming pool, hot tubs have built in filtration systems which, with added chemicals, ensure the water is constantly filtered and safe. However, at UK Hot Tubs we do recommend you empty your hot tub every three months to prevent the water becoming overloaded with chemicals.
Are more jets an indication of a better hot tub?
It is the massaging jets of a hot tub that make them so popular. Remember the saying “quality not quantity” well this applies to the number of jets in your spa too. It is the volume and style of jets that make the difference, often with fewer jets delivering a stronger more direct massage, whilst more jets provide a softer massaging effect due to the same amount of power being delivered over more jets. So less can be more, but we would advise it is down to your personal preference.
How often should my hot tub be serviced?
Here at UK Hot Tubs we fully understand the level of commitment and investment you make when installing a hot tub, and this is why regular maintenance is a must to ensure you spa is in tip top condition. At least an annual service is recommended, however this will depend on the amount of maintenance you carry out yourself. A bespoke maintenance package from a recommended retailer that suits your personal needs is perfect.
Do I need to turn my hot tub off after each use?
Leaving your hot tub switched on, in energy save or economy mode, will actually save you money. The filtration cycles will still run, ensuring the water is kept fresh, and the temperature of the water will be maintained too. It will cost more to heat the water from its regular temperature each time.
