Fancy Dress Ideas That Don’t Break The Bank

One thing I always look forward to in the summer is hosting my annual BBQ. We have multiple throughout the year but my husband and I always host a big one where we invite pretty much everyone we know. This year is no different and the preparations are underway for what is bound to be an amazing afternoon and evening.

My husband suggested that this year we do it as a theme. We came up with a list of ideas for we could do, Australian, Caribbean and Mexican all made it on to the list but were ruled out in the end for one reason or another. Instead we decided that we would just do it as generic fancy dress, that way everyone can wear what they want and we don’t have to cater to a particular cuisine.

There was just one problem, the cost. My husband and I insist on paying for all the food and drink so I didn’t then want to be spending a fortune on a fancy dress outfit too. I got on the phone and spoke to my sisters who were coming from all over the country to the event to ask for ideas. After much chatting, we have decide that we are all going to dress up as our mother, which would be highly hilarious to anybody that knows her.  Now we have a plan we need to find some cheap ladies jumpers. My mum always wears a jumper of some description – It’s kind of a running joke with us now. No matter how hot it is, she’ll be in a jumper, weird!

After much searching we finally came across the perfect design and have placed our order. Now we can’t wait for the party. Our idea is odd but that’s nothing on our friends so we’re looking forward to seeing what everybody else will be wearing. We better make sure we have the camera ready!
